Taste of the Villages is an annual event now in its 9th year benefitting the Lazarus Clinic, a program of Catholic Charities of Central Florida which provides care to residents of Lake, Marion, and Sumter counties at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Restaurants on hand vary from year to year but could include popular Villages area eateries like Amelias at Waterfront Inn, Chefs of Napoli, City Fire, Cottillion Cafe & Sweetery, Gio’s Deli, Guy Fieri’s, Mezza Luna, Oakwood, Thai Ruby, and the VHS Culinary Academy.
Tickets are sold out for this year, but there is a waiting list you can get on if more space opens up.

The Enrichment Academy’s second set of class sessions are beginning in April and they’re holding another Learn & Grow Expo at Lake Miona Recreation Center on Saturday 2/3 from 8 to 11am. If you miss the expo you can find the course catalog and registration info here.

Also on tap this weekend is The Villages Model Train Show at Savannah Center.
This show will feature over 140 tables of model trains, parts, clothing and related toys for sale. There will be operating model train displays in 6 different gauges as well as a Lego train display.
Thomas the Train will also be there as part of a kid-friendly interactive layout.
Show dates are Saturday, February 3rd from 9 AM – 4 PM and Sunday, February 4th from 10 AM to 3 PM.
A couple weeks ago I shared the story of the woman who had to be airlifted after she was struck by a golf cart while walking.
Sadly this week we learned that she died from her injuries.
