A few weeks ago we wrote about a study posted by USA Today content partner 24/7 Wall Street that stated The Villages metro area has the fastest growing violent crime rate in the state of Florida.
In response to that report I mentioned that The Villages metro area has been one of the fastest growing areas of the country for years, so it stands to reason that this would make all manner of statistics go up as well.
Well, lo and behold, USA Today and 24/7 Wall Street are back again this week with the fastest growing U.S. cities from 2010 to 2017.
Spoiler alert: The Villages was #1 with these stats:
• 2010-2017 population change: +32.8 percent (from 94,279 to 125,165)
• 2010-2017 pop. change due to migration: +38,549
• Largest 12 month change: +5,392 (2013-2014)
• Median household income: $54,562

Longtime readers and residents know that The Villages’ political makeup is predominantly republican, and conservative authors, politicians, and celebrities make the trek through here on a regular basis. Last but certainly not least this week, our last two issues started off with news about Larry the Alligator. Larry’s new caretakers down at Gatorland posted a video on Facebook this week to let everybody know how he’s doing:
